The Extreme and The Bizarre
My Takeaways
Something Old
Extreme: utmost or exceedingly great in degree
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV) Jeremiah 29:11
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” (NIV) Ephesians 3:20
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagine what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
I don’t have an explanation for the extreme regulations we read about. Our God can be trusted, this I know.

Wow Wendy! Awesome lesson today. I just love all the Bible verses that you shared. My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11. Thanks for saying that since God knows the plans that He has for us we don’t have to be afraid of our future and life. I loved how you said that God wants the best for us. My something to do- is to trust God to give me the best more than all I ask or imagine.
Can’t wait to read your new book Wendy when it comes out. Looking forward to it. I really loved Wait & See.
I loved this lesson. It is so easy to get caught up in the do’s and don’ts but Wendy teaching on how much God loves us and wants the best for us… well … it just makes me feel about these part of the Bible differently. I love the verses that were shared, my favourite is Jeremiah 29:11 too… This verse has been a hang on to for many years of my life…
My to do is: focus on Gods love for me/us and try to respond to that.
Have a wonderful day all of you!!!
Love from Germany!!
My Takeaways: Laws, laws, laws and more laws for the Individual and community.
Something Old: Deuteronomy 21:22-23
“If someone has committed a crime worthy of death and it’s executed and hung on a tree, the body must not remain hanging from the tree overnight…” Paul expounds on Deuteronomy 21:23 in Galatians 3:13-14. Jesus not only died in our place; but He also took the place as the accursed of God, being hung on a “tree” in open shame and degradation. He received this curse, which we deserved. We are redeemed from the curse of the law by the work of Jesus on the cross for us. We no longer have to fear that God wants to curse us; He wants to bless us, not because of who we are, or what we have done, but because of what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. -David Guzik
Something New: Deuteronomy 22:13-30 God gives many laws concerning sexual sin. I think these laws were important because sexual sins have the power to disrupt and destroy God’s people. Sexual sins mess up marriages and children. It destroys relationships, puts an end to trust and ruins respect. God obviously knew this and wanted to protect his people. If His people choice to listen and obey, their lives were greatly benefited.
Something To Do: Remember that God’s laws were made not just to teach me and restrict me, but to protect and help me even when I don’t always understand. Take time to thank God daily for loving me enough to sent His Son, Jesus as my High Priest. Thank you Jesus for dying for me so I could be set free from eternal death. So I could be redeemed into the family of God.
