RTW March 12
The Uninviteds In The Wilderness
Normally it takes only eleven days to travel from Mount Sinai to Kadesh-Barnea, going by way of Mount Seir. But forty years after…
Deuteronomy 1:2-3a
My Takeaways
Something Old
The Uninvited:
- March to Our Past: Depression
- Parade over Our Present: Discouragement
- Trample over Our Future: Doubt
Something New
Ridding Ourselves of the Uninviteds:
- Willing
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (NIV) Psalm 51:12 - Armed
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-17 - Right Minded
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (NIV) 2 Corinthians 10:5
Something to Do
Get rid of my uninviteds.
Thank you for this very timely word, Wendy. God really used it to speak to me in my wilderness today.
Thank you for the wonderful reminder in today’s lesson to get rid of the uninvited 3 D’s – depression, discouragement, and doubt. For the past two years I’ve been dealing with a “wilderness” situation and I don’t know when it will end. God’s Word and your excellent lessons help me stay strong and filled with hope instead of miring down in discouragement and doubt. This lesson in particular touched my heart. Thank you, God, for speaking to me through Wendy. Thank you Wendy for serving as God’s faithful disciple. ❤
Thank you for this encouragement. It was much needed on today. A reminder that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal…W.A.R.
God is so good!!! Today the Lord, prompted me to give my signed copy of Wait and See to a neighbor who was leaving my neighborhood. I had just order 9 more copies and I couldn’t wait to get them… Boo Hoo. However, Here you are talking about the very chapter that I read today. The Uninvited. I think God was giving me a smile. Thanks for that wonderful book. … I have had some major DDD’s yet I feel thru this reading that I am coming out on the other side.
I did not order 9. Only 4. Sorry
Thank you for this message. I am behind in my reading but have chosen to continue and am so glad that I am. I needed these words today God knew I would need this today. I have been in the wilderness for a few years and the 3D’s have been pouncing all over me lately. I read your book over Christmas and will be going back to it again to relearn a few things. I ask for prayers of protection and strength. Thank you Lord for Your perfectly timed Word.
My Takeaways: The New Generation is ready to enter the promised land. Moses decides to review and go over with them what has taken place over the last 40 years, highlighting the important stuff in preparing them for their new life.
Something Old: Just as it took 40 years for God to prepared the Israelites, we Christians take time time to get it together today. We make life’s journey so much harder then what it needs to be. Because just like the Israelites, we continue to not pay attention to what God (Jesus Christ) did for us. We ignore His commands and go against His authority.
Something New: I was just thinking about how Jesus was tempted by the devil right after he got baptized. He fasted in the wilderness for 40 days just like the Israelites wondered for 40 years. All the verses he quoted to Satan came from this book. Is there something of significance here that I need to know? Just wondering.
Something To Do: Review and remember the history of Israel and apply it to my life by being obedient to what the Bible says. Always move in faith. Look at the positives in all situations. Share the load of responsibilities with others, giving them the opportunity to use their God-given talents and gifts. Most importantly though, I need to accept God’s love and live a life pleasing and devoted to him.
