My Lot
“Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your special possession, these will be the boundaries.”
Numbers 34:2
My Takeaways
Something Old
LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. (NIV) Psalm 16:5-6
The Lord himself is my inheritance, my prize. He is my food and drink, my highest joy! He guards all that is mine. He sees that I am given pleasant brooks and meadows as my share! What a wonderful inheritance! I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do. I am always thinking of the Lord; and because he is so near, I never need to stumble or to fall. Heart, body, and soul are filled with joy. For you will not leave me among the dead; you will not allow your beloved one to rot in the grave. You have let me experience the joys of life and the exquisite pleasure of your own eternal presence. (TLB) Psalm 16:5-11
There is enough inheritance for everyone.
My lot:
- Is assigned only for me and is especially for me
- Secure
- Has pleasant boundaries that are good for me
- Provides a delightful inheritance for me
Something New
God provided cities of refuge on the east side of the Jordan.
Something to Do
Praise God for my inheritance on this side and the other side of glory.

Wendy, when you were describing yourself with boundaries, I thought you were describing me. 🙂 I felt like that for a long time. Now, I’m grateful for my boundaries from God, to protect me.
Thank you so much for all your work to help us. You teach with such enthusiasm that it is catchy.
The study of words and their origins, I think that’s interesting too, I believe it’s called ‘etymology’. It would be nice if classes were offered in that subject, I would sign up!
My Takeaways: Well girls we did it again, we made it through another book! We spent 39 years in Numbers with the Israelites. What an amazing book! I learned so much in reading this book, but yet there is so much more to be learned. I know in time Jesus will reveal more to me. So many questions and wonders I still ponder, but I know as I grow spiritually Jesus will continue to reveal more truths to me. Allowing me to become more and more like Him. Thank you Jesus for sharing yourself with me through your word, the Bible!
Something Old: God is so faithful, even when we are not. Though the first generation would not enter the land- God never abandoned them. He continues to lead the next generation, into the promised land. Next we will get to read if this New Generation can faithfully follow God as they begin their next big move, the conquest of the land promised to them!
Something New: Something I know for sure is that God does not tolerate rebellion, complaining, and disbelief without giving consequences. He taught and wants His people to worship Him, serve Him, and live as witnesses to the people around them through their actions and words. What an awesome God we serve and oh how he loves me and you! Can’t wait to dive into Deuteronomy to see what’s in store for the next generation. Hopefully they learned from their parents’ mistakes.
Something To Do: I want to live righteously, worshipping God through my words and works. I don’t want to follow the rebellious Israelites examples. I think God shared this truth to me so I can be reminded of how easily it is to slip away. I don’t want to be like the first generation and miss my chance. I want to keep my eyes on Jesus so I get the chance to live with him to eternity. I will pray that God always keeps my heart soft, open to God’s guiding hand.
