When It’s Hard To Go To Church

“In addition to the Sabbath, these are the Lord’s appointed festivals, the official days for holy assembly that are to be celebrated at their proper times each year.
Leviticus 23:4

My Takeaways

Something Old

We can’t take the assembling of God’s people for granted. We’ve got to encourage one another. Times are getting tougher and the day is drawing nearer.

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25

Something New

When it’s hard to go to church; go to church.

Something to Do

Go to church and worship.

  1. My Takeaways: I see the picture of Jesus Christ throughout today’s reading again. Leviticus just can’t seem to get away from the foreshawdowing of Jesus.

Something Old: Festivals, a time to come together and celebrate God.

Something New: I see the number 7 so much in the Bible. I wonder if it has any important significance for us today or if it was just God’s favorite number. 🙂
So we have the appointed festivals. I think these days speak of past and future deliverance. Jesus Christ fulfilled or will fulfill the substance of each celebration.
-Passover (Leviticus 23:5) : Jesus is our passover lamb.
    – Unleavened Bread (Leviticus 23:6) : Jesus sinless life.
-First Fruits (Leviticus 23:10) –Jesus rose from the dead as the first fruits of righteousnes.
-Harvest (Leviticus 23:16) -pointed to the great harvest of souls when Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit.
-Trumpets (Leviticus 23:24) -The Rapture is always associated in Scripture with the blowing of a loud trumpet
-Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:27)- The day of the Second Coming of Jesus when complete atonement has been made.
-Shelters (Leviticus 23:34) – Involved the whole family. Jesus promises that He will return with His people (family) and reign over all the world.
God is great! Only He could engineer time and history to use the same holidays twice!

Something To Do: Remember the role Jesus has in carrying out the plans of God. Celebrate Jesus everyday by thinking him through prayer, Bible study and worship.
