Let it Go, God did.

“Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy?” Reuben asked. “But you wouldn’t listen. And now we have to answer for his blood!”
Genesis 42:22

My Takeaways

Something Old

My God doesn’t condemn.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
Romans 8:1

My master is grace, not sin.
For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. (NIV 1984)
Romans 6:14

My Savior Jesus has set me free, therefore I am free.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (NIV)
John 8:36

My old is gone; because of Jesus Christ I am new.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (NIV 1984)
2 Corinthians 5:17

Something New

More than 20 years had passed.

Something to Do

Settle it with God

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (NIV) Isaiah 1:18

  1. My Takeaways:
“Do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. . . . It was not you who sent me here, but God” (Genesis 45:5, 7-8). God’s hand is always at work. Only He can turn evil into good and Joseph’s story proves this.

    Something Old:
Joseph remained dependent on God, and he never lost his way even when he received great power and wealth.

Something New: Judah’s life shows the wonderful grace of God. Judah was willing to betray his younger brother and sell him into slavery — but he wasn’t willing to kill him. Judah was willing to confess that he was the primary wrong-doer in his dealings with Tamar. And later, in dealing with Joseph as governor of Egypt, Judah was willing to give up his freedom — and even his own life! — for the sake of his brother Benjamin and his father Jacob.

Something To Do: Remember when I get caught up in sin not to ignore it, but face up to what I did. Admit it openly and seek forgiveness. Greatness lies not in being perfect, but to recognize that I’m not perfect and doing what I can to make my imperfectness, perfect.

    1. Your “Something New” fits so well with your query the other day about why God would choose Judah over Joseph for the lineage of Jesus. What wonderful examples of grace and mercy and sacrifice you recounted. The fact that Judah was willing to give his own life for the sake of Benjamin is a clear foreshadowing of Jesus’ sacrifice for all mankind. Thanks for sharing! Love reading your posts.
