TGFABT – Psalm 25
Fear More
“Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord?”
Psalm 25:12
God will
- Direct
- Prosper
- Confide
Fear– Yare’ (yaw-ray’)
reverent
How do we fear more?
- Walk in obedience-obedience is more than just not sinning
- Walk away from temptation-things that would disappointment Him
- Walk in His ways even when they contradict our ways
Truth Tuesday
“No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame.” (V3)
I don’t ever have to feel shame because I put my hope in the Lord. Shame is a senseless and wasted emotion that sucks life out the Believer.
Word Study
The word confide grabbed me in the first reading of Psalm 25. I love the depth of its meaning. My favorite words in the definition will be of no surprise to you, they are probably your favorite as well: of familiar friends, secret counsel, familiar converse (intimacy with God).
God does not just have these secret counsel, familiar conversations with just anyone. What a privilege it is to fear God so we can hear God!
Cowd (sode) Strong’s 1471a
council, counsel, assembly
- council (of familiar conversation)
- divan, circle (of familiar friends)
- assembly, company
- counsel
-
- counsel (itself)
- secret counsel
- familiar converse, intimacy (with God)
Thankful Thursday
I am thankful for my time to write this week.
Faith Stretching/Strengthening

I am fighting to trust and hope again in a situation where I have been let down many times. (This is the same thing I listed last week and the week before. I am stuck here. 🙂
Good morning! I am conflicted with the statement “Fear the Lord”. When I think of the word fear, I do not associate it with reverence, honor, or respect. The word fear put a negative connotation in my mind. I do understand the concept, however I prefer to honor, respect, and revere the Lord in a positive way. Do I need to be fearful? Yes! Because I do not want to disappoint God or make the evil one happy. I do not believe God wishes us to be “walking on eggshells” on our spiritual journey.
I know this is more a Word Wednesday post, but this is what you get today! LOL.
May Your journey this week be filled with love and laughter!
Another great lesson today! I loved that David repeats that in the Lord he trusts, in the Lord he hopes, in the Lord he takes refuge. His repetition reminds me that all my hope and trust needs to be in the Lord, the one who secures my eternity with the blood of Jesus. Too often I face disappointment when I fail to place my hope and trust in Him.
Truth Tuesday. I love that the Lord cofides in us if we fear Him. WOW! The God of the universe confides in ME! Humbling thought! My NIV notes say: God offers intimate and lasting friendship to those who revere him, who hold Him in highest honor. What relationship could even compare with having the Lord of all creation for a friend?????
Today’s truth came to me via a video. Kathy Lee returned to the today show after her husband Frank Giffords passing. She spoke of she and Franks faith and love for God! She told a great story of when they visited the Holy Land. A friend took them to the site where David killed Goliath with a single stone.
When people would come to their home and request to see Franks trophy room, he would show them the stone he picked up from David’s site.
When their children graduated they received a similar rock. And they would ask them to find what kind of rock God wanted them to be and then pursue and perfect their gifts and relationship with God!
Such a touching story!
Message is great this week. I have read more than once. Fear is respect. Even thinking of my earthly Father. I feared him in a respectful way and never wanted to disappoint him which kept me from trouble on many levels. Fearing God is a good thing if we read this psalm and reflect on it. Truth is I need discipline in my life. Thankful to be able to have God leading my path. I too watched Kathy’s tribute to Frank and was so inspired by her willingness to praise God and show their faith on national TV:). So refreshing.
I love the word confide in verse 14 too !!!! So awesome the message that conveys. If we fear God, our relationship is an intimate one in which He confides in us!!! How awesome is that!
I am reminded again today and am thankful God cares about every detail of my life.
