The Day the Word Came to Life

I was overwhelmed not by the comments but by the responses.

Last Monday my devotion Who’s Texting Me This Late ran on Encouragement for Today at Proverbs 31 Ministries.

If you missed the devotion you can follow the link to read it. The purpose of this post is not repost the devotion it’s to celebrate what God did through it.

This is the key verse.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

This is its meaning.

Today’s key verse encourages us to pray at all times and on every occasion. At first glance such a suggestion may seem overwhelming, but Paul was simply saying: pray prayer upon prayer. Whether we pray individually or in a group, aloud or silently, kneeling or standing, pray.

The prayer doesn’t have to be fancy with big church words like thee and thou. Paul’s message is just pray.

This is what happened.

The six women who committed to pray for those who requested prayer prayed. To my amazement, those who had not committed to pray prayed. Ephesians 6:18 came to life, right here.  Not including the Proverbs 31 Ministries Facebook, over 1600 women needed prayer or prayed. WOW! Just WOW!

Here is what we prayed for:

  • Children
  • Healing
  • Husbands
  • Finances/Work
  • Forgiveness
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Grandchildren
  • Grandparents
  • Aging Parents
  • Addiction
  • Growth in their walk with the Lord
  • Reconciliation

Let’s continue to celebrate what God did through this matchless name and powerful. Let’s continue to pray in this general areas and leave the specifics up to God.

God ROCKS!!! And so do YOU!!!

Have a great Monday.

  1. God has been faithful and I do thank him for his faithfulness. He has shown that He is no respecter of persons but if we are obedient to his word He will watch over them and bring it to pass in our lives. We must be obedient to His instructions and we will see results. Have a victorious week.

  2. We hear “Pray” and ……”Pray in the Spirit”………….. When we “Pray in the Spirit,” is that suppose to mean we let our inner self (heart) go to a place where we God dwells within us to “speak” to Him? And when we “pray,” we just “talk” to God off the top of our heads (kinda like: talking with our head vs. talking with our heart?)? I have had this question asked of me and really wasn’t sure how to respond.

  3. just saw this today…and just what I needed to read, as always. Please pray for my daughter. New town, new job, 4 hours from home, and suffering recurrence of OCD and anxiety. The combination of lots of changes and past anxiety from a traumatic accident she was in 6 years ago, where her lifelong best friend died, has made this a day by day dependence on God and the prayers of many warriors. She will covet the realization that so many are lifting her up. Thank you and Praise God.

  4. Please pray for finances to meet the needs of children we support in Mombasa, Kenya. Bibles Books and Shovels. We have trusted God for this mission since 2002 and we will not stop now. Please Pray

  5. Thank you for the encouragement and will be praying for others. Please pray for our family for spiritual prosperity and with a big decision. I ask that God’s hand is it all and pray that we will not make a move until He says. He knows our hearts and our thoughts so please pray for all needs to be meant according to His will in our lives as struggles with finances, children, marriage and addition has taken a toll on our family. I believe God is the God of restoration. Thank you all again and praise God through it all!

  6. Though I pray many times each day I sometimes feel that it does no good. Please pray for me that I might not be so discouraged. My sister’s family needs much prayer because she has a son and daughter who both have mental problems but each have two children, two of which my sister has custody of and she is of retirement age but cannot retire due to the financial situation. The son has had addiction problems and the daughter is going through a divorce.

  7. What an encouraging word on prayer! I find
Myself seeing many prayer requests on Facebook
From people I know. And I begin praying for them.
However I don’t add my own, perhaps because I
Prefer a less form of social media avenue.
I would like to ask for prayer because I lost my job
In July of this year. I’m seeking direction from The Lord and have sent out resumes but no bites. I think I need clear direction because I feel alittle all over the place. I am a 41 yr old single woman who is responsible for my own way of living. I am not married and no kids. Currently seeking seasonal positions but I really need a full time job. Would you be willing to pray for me? I would appreciate. I have certain desires but I feel confused if it’s what The Lord wants me to continue searching in these areas. Thank you.

  8. I pray every day and night but sometimes I feel like God is not listening to me, then I cry loud please pray for me am in serious debt that I live a life of fear and lies which I don’t want. I hope God can send the Angels of HEAVEN to come and help me fight this spirit of lack and of failure in my life
