Sleep In Heavenly Peace

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep,…
Acts 12:6a

My Takeaways

Something Old

Paul and Barnabas were on their first missionary journey, yet they went to synagogue. (Acts 13:14). They didn’t let mission work keep them from “church”. It’s easy for us to allow ministry to become a stumbling block for church attendance.

Something New

Peter was asleep!

He wasn’t trouble with wrong thoughts, or what ifs.

  • I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. Psalm 3:5-6
  • You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:7-8
  • You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3

Something to Do

Sleep in heavenly peace, because the Prince of Peace is watching over me.

  1. It is amazing that Peter could sleep like that. In light of what happened to some of the other believers – – – Stephen, the apostle James. I would love to have that kind of trust.
