Come

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

 

 

My Takeaways

Something Old

How often have I witnessed miracles and dissed God? (Matthew 11:20)

Something New

Jesus invites those who are “heavy laden” to take His yoke upon them, and in so doing they will find rest.

• This yoke is light and easy: includes repentance and a commitment to follow Him. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome (ESV)  1 John 5:3
• This yoke comes with a helper, the Holy Spirit who works in us to help us follow Christ.
• This yoke is perfect because of Jesus perfection, we can live free of the old system and old way of thinking.

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.  For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” (TPT)

Something to Do

Remove my attachment to the world’s system of people pleasing, and working for my salvation and God’s favor.
