Living Through Dying

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.”
John 12:24

My Takeaways

Something Old

The kernel has to die before it can produce life. Unless it is planted and dies,  it remains alone.

Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies: Just as a seed will never become a plant unless it dies and is buried, so the death and burial of Jesus was necessary to His glorification. Before there can be resurrection power and fruitfulness, there must be death.

Spiritually speaking: Death produces life.

  • Dying brings glory to God.
  • Dying draws others to Christ
  • Dying is the only way to live and be fruitful.

Losing our life is the only way to find the life He has for us.

Something New

Hearing Jesus talk about His own death, physical death makes my heart ache.

Something to Do

Die to myself.

  1. Matthew 26:6 “…at the home of Simon, a man who previously had leprosy.” I wonder if he was one of the 10?
