Preparing For What Is Next

This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the Lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.
Ezra 7:10

My Takeaways

Something Old

What do we do while we are waiting? Ezra’s example is perfect.

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. (KVJ)

Prepare: to put in proper condition or readiness:

While we wait, we prepare our heart for what is next, even though we don’t know when “what is next” will come.

  • Seek the Lord through His Word.
  • Obey what it says.
  • Teach it, when given the opportunity.

“An instrument must be turned ere it can be played upon.” (John Trapp)

Something New

Why didn’t any Levites volunteer to come to Jerusalem? (Ezra 8:15)

Something to Do

Tune my instrument. Be ready for what comes next.

  1. Waiting is hard! I’m in a wait and have been for a long time. I don’t know when or even if my wait will end. It is not something I can control. I am striving and learning to be more like Ezra and all those in the Bible who have had to wait. I want to wait well, to use my time to prepare my heart and know my savior better.
