Stunned by God’s Goodness

“When was the last time you were stunned by something God did for you?”

This question was asked of me while in a Bible study meeting. Without restraint or hesitation, I said, “Every day. Every day, I am stunned that I am who I am, I am loved like I am loved, and I am blessed like I am blessed.” The blessings God gives me everyday simply stun me. I am not a person of great wealth. I am not a person of vast intelligence. I am not a person who has an abundance of material possessions.  But I wake up every day in a home that is cool in summer and warm in the winter. The cabinets in my kitchen are never empty and my closet overflows with clothes. I am healthy enough to walk to the mailbox or run with my son. I am stunned by God – and many times convicted – because of my greedy and ungrateful attitude towards my life. Every moment of every day is an opportunity for me to be stunned by God and to show my praise to Him for all He does for me.

Are you ever stunned by God?  Does His goodness to you take your breath away?  Do you ever feel if you don’t praise Him that the very rocks will cry out?  I have, too.  The other morning as I drove to work a praise song came on the radio that I had never really paid much attention to.  As I heard the first verse, I wept.  I was stunned!  I wanted to lift my hands and face to Him at that very moment.  How do you lift your hands and your tear stained face to God when you are driving?  You don’t.  God stops traffic for you.  I don’t know who saw me that day other than My Heavenly Father but it was moment in time I will never forget.

I knew that I had to have the words to the song so I did what I always do when I need information; I went on the “information highway” and googled the song. I would love for you to have a moment with God like I did.  Follow the link below and listen (sing if you know the words) to this song of praise, even if you don’t feel like you have anything to praise Him for right now. Praising when you don’t feel like it is real sacrifice. You are offering something you don’t really have to a God who has it all and wants to give it to you. Feel His presence right with you as you listen. Click here to listen to the song.
