TGFABT – Psalm 62

This I Know…

One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, that you, O Lord, are loving.”
Psalm 62:11

I don’t know much but I do know:

…that You, O God, are strong  (El-o-heem)

…that You, O Lord, are loving  (Adonai-Master or Owner)

Regardless of:

  • My circumstances
  • My feelings
  • My facts
  • My perception

Talk myself out of a place of misery by reciting what I know!

Truth Tuesday

Journal: What truth is God teaching you through Psalm 62?

Girls— this is huge to me right now…

I don’t know much but I do know

  • …that You, O God, are strong  (El-o-heem)
  • …that You, O Lord, are loving  (Adonai-Master or Owner)

Word Study Wednesday

He alone is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Fortress, I will never be shaken.” (V2-NIV)

He only [is] my Rock and my Salvation; [He is] my Defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” (KJV)

Moved means more than moved. Read this and feel the power:

  • to waver; by implication, to slip, shake, fall — be carried, cast, be out of course, be fallen in decay, X exceedingly, fall(-ing down), be (re-)moved, be ready, shake, slide, slip.

Which part is your favorite?  I would love to hear it! My favorite part is be out of course. Too often in trials I allow myself to be taken off course by the distraction of the trial.

Oh, and did you notice in the KJV the use of the word is. This is present tense.  Do you feel that power?  He is (never not) my Rock, Salvation and Defense. So much so that I will not slip, slide, shake, or be out of course. Please help me remember this LORD! Please help me remember.

Thankful Thursday

Journal: Tell God something that you are thankful for.

I am so thankful that in the midst of trouble I will not be cast on off the course God has for me.

Faith Stretching/Strengthening Friday

Journal: How is God stretching/strengthening your faith?

I am currently reading a book called The Hole in my Holiness. DeYoung said something that shook me to the core: “If you think being a Christian is nothing more than saying a prayer or joining a church, the you’ve confused real grace with cheap grace.  Those who a justified will be sanctified.”

Have I cheapened God’s grace but refusing to surrendering to His work of real holiness in my life?

Something to think about!
