TGFABT – Psalm 32

Forgiveness=Happiness

“Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.”
Psalm 32:3

If you haven’t experienced the joy of God’s forgiveness, do as David did:

  • Confess-acknowledge the sin
  • Repent-tell God you are sorry and make plans to turn from the sin
  • Accept-God’s forgiveness and move on

If forgiveness equals happiness, shouldn’t everyone be happy?

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Matthew 6:14

Unforgiveness has power.

If we don’t forgive, “they keeps the pow wah.”

Forgive them or they keep our power and our joy.

A few things about forgiveness:

  • We don’t forgive for them; we forgive for us.
  • We are not responsible for their response; we are only responsible for our obedience.
  • We forgive; we have power.

Is it easy? No. But with man all this impossible but with God all things are possible.

Truth Tuesday

My blessedness depends on my willingness to confess and forgive.

Word Study

Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.” Psalm 32:1-2

Strong’s
Covered- kacah (kaw-saw’) -conceal, hide-God no longer looks at or is concerned with this sin.

Dictionary.com
Conceal-

  • to hide; withdraw or remove from observation; cover or keep from sight:
  • to keep secret; to prevent or avoid disclosing or divulging

Hide

  • to conceal from knowledge or exposure; keep secret

Count Against

Imputeth not iniquity -avon (aw-vone’) punish for iniquity. He does not treat us according to our sin.

Happy is the man whose sins are removed from observation and kept secret. Happy is the man who is not treated according to his sin.

Yes, happy is he/she!!!!!   This kind of happiness depends on my willingness to come to the Lord sincerely, remembering who I am and who He is.

Thankful

I am thankful for harmony with my spirit when I reconcile it with those who offend me.  I continue to put my hope in Christ.

Faith Stretching/Strengthening

I am reading a book God divinely appointed me to read.  He is challenging me to put into practice what I am reading.  Wow!

  1. This Psalm is such a good reminder of how important it is to confess and seek God’s forgiveness. I definitely fall short in this area in my prayers. I am much better at praising, praying for others and praying for my needs. I often forget to ask God to show me my sin and then confess that sin to Him.

  2. I am sure this is for me the most powerful Psalm. I grew up in a family that held grudges from way, way back! It ruined so much family time and caused years of separation. I learned to forgive and ask for forgiveness after starting in a bible based church and reading God’s word. Forgiving others is so important but accepting that God forgives me for my sins was so powerful in my life!

  3. Forgiveness is so cleansing. I always feel renewed when I loose the “power” that someone held over me. That being said, I recently quit one of my jobs because of the injustices I endured. I asked the Lord to forgive my boss, and myself for any wrong doings, but I will not tell my boss that they are forgiven. Why? Because they truly wouldn’t care. Sometimes that’s all we can do.
Go forth and enjoy this beautiful day God has given us!

  4. When one does not forgive the door is open for Satan to destroy life and steal joy. It is sad and heart breaking to watch this happen, how disappointed God must be in us when we do not forgive and experience His joy. Forgiveness often feels easy till the moment we are brought face to face with the individual and then we must rely on God for true forgiveness to surface. Only through God’s strength and promise of eternity can all things be forgiven and then within that forgiveness God’s love shows through like the Amish who forgave when their children were killed or the parents of those slain in the schools. Forgiveness is God’s love flowing through you.

  5. Truth is I still have trouble accepting the gift of forgiveness for my sins that God provides me. I am blessed to have each day to work on allowing myself to accept his grace.

  6. Forgiveness is a choice. It isn’t a feeling. In the beginning when you choose to forgive someone it doesn’t feel legitimate. But if you continue to pray for that person and act toward that person in a loving way, eventually forgiveness will become part of your soul. It doesn’t mean that you FORGET any hurt they have done. It simply means you have let go of it. As someone said unforgiveness hurts you, not them.

  7. You ladies have lots of wisdom about forgiveness. A great truth and insight that Wendy mentioned was the fact that unforgiveness has power. That is so true. The line that sticks with me is “blessed is the man in whose heart there is no deceit”. I want to constantly ask God to search my heart and reveal my sin so I can confess.

  8. Forgiveness…..there is a word that has such a powerful meaning all by itself! Jesus said as he was on the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. I still get chills when I hear this statement. This is why we need to choose to forgive. Is it easy? no, is it necessary? yes. I cannot imagine God not forgiving my sins, so I must do the same for others and it isn’t always the easy thing to do but the right thing to do.

  9. I am thankful that my heart has softened over the years with God’s help and I am able to forgive those who know I have forgiven them and those who do not know. They are blessed and so I am regardless:)
