We can’t have a revival in our life until we return to God with our heart.

Truth Tuesday

Journal: What truth is God teaching you through Psalm 80?

Sometimes my deportation has nothing to do with but I can need to examine my heart and draw close to God.

Word Study Wednesday

Psalm 80:1 NIV
Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken Your might; come and save us.

ESV
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh,

stir up Your  might and come to save us!

The psalmist is asking God to listen to his plea. The ESV uses the word give ear. This phrase means more than hear. It paints a picture. The word is azan (aw-zan’). Its expanded meaning is to broaden out the ear (with the hand).

Can you see it now? God leaning down from His throne with His ear cupped in His hand listening with great interest in the psalmist prayer.

Now picture God leaning down from His throne with His ear cupped in His hand listening with great interest to your prayer.

God was as determined to hear his prayer and the psalmist was for his prayer to be heard. I wonder what God thought when the psalmist repeated “Restore us” three times.

Wow! God’s Word is so simple and yet wonderfully complex at the same time.
