TGFABT – Psalm 55

Unchecked Reconciliation

“But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God.”
Psalm 55:13-14

” Now David had been told, ‘Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.’ So David prayed, ‘O Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.’”
2 Samuel 15:31

“”So Joab went to the king and told him this. Then the king summoned Absalom, and he came in and bowed down with his face to the ground before the king. And the king kissed Absalom.” 2 Samuel 14:33

  • Reconciliation must include God
  • Reconciliation can happen without the other person’s consent
  • Reconciliation attempts without God leaves the bite of bitterness
  • Reconciliation most often requires repentance
  • Reconciliation takes time

The whole story;

2 Samuel 13-15

Tell the truth, were you cracking up as I butchered the pronunciation of Ahithophel?  Scott and I are still laughing.

Truth Tuesday

Journal: What truth is God teaching you through Psalm 55?

….but as for me, I will trust you. (v23)

No matter what is going on, I am to trust  in Him.

Word Study Wednesday

Sometimes the word or words in a word study do not need much study at all.  Yes, sometimes the word or words need only to be repeated.

Verse 17 in the KJV is so beautiful, in words and application.

“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.”

In Hebrew evening means evening, morning means morning, and noon means mid-day.

Simple put: He will hear our voice when we cry to Him.

Basic. Pure. Humble.

Perhaps we should try it.

Thankful Thursday

Journal: Tell God something that you are thankful for.

What you thankful for today? My our praise but pleasing to you Lord. Be high and lifted up!

Oh, how thankful I am for His Word and its exactness. Every word and illustration is connected.

Faith Stretching/Strengthening Friday

Journal: How is God stretching/strengthening your faith?

God is strengthening my faith: showing me how he goes before me to prepares the way.
