TGFABT – Psalm 40

“He lifted me out…”
Psalm 40:2

I Wait

qavah (kaw-vaw).  The word means: look for, tarry, hope, expect

to bind together (perhaps by twisting)

He Hears (v1)

Natah (naw-taw’)

to stretch out, extend, spread out, pitch, turn, pervert, incline, bend, bow

He Lifts (v2)

We don’t have lift, we have to look.

He Sets (v2)

He Transforms (v3)

Isaiah 43:1-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

Truth Tuesday

I am happiest when I place my trust in the Lord and not man. (v4) Why can’t I get this through my head?

Word Study

“Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount  to you;
were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.” Psalm 40:4

Oh what a truly delicious truth!!! His wonders are too wonderful to tell, too numerous to count, and too unfathomable to understand.

Pala’ (paw-law’)
to be marvelous, be wonderful, be surpassing, be extraordinary, beyond one’s power, be difficult to do, to difficult to understand

I especially love the word surpassing!!!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the new song the Lord puts on my lips, at any time of the time!

Faith Stretching/Strengthening

When my faith is stretched it strengthens… I am feeling strong!

  1. Waiting on God to take me out of this slimy pit hits home with me this morning. He will lift me out and provide a new path I must be patient. Isaiah 43: 18-19 will be my prayer this week. I know God will be making a way for me as John begins his treatment hopefully next week:).

  2. I particularly heard the message that God places us where he wants us and then helps us to be successful there before moving us on to the next level. Being successful may just to be able to rise out of the muck with the Lord on my side. Regardless I am always ready for a new song, new circumstance to see what the Lord has ready for me. So I will wait patiently and expectantly for his lead.

  3. I just saw this on Face book!
“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything,
Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you,
So you can be who you were meant to be in the first place!”
    from the Minds Journal

  4. Great Monday message! As we wait, we must trust…verse 4 says blessed is the man who makes the Lord His trust. He is good and faithful, and we need to trust that as we wait, He is working and moving on our behalf.

  5. Truth for me is that this Psalm has everything I am going through with my P.I.T. Love this statement and I know all that we are learning in Psalm 39 is that God is with me every step of the way. He is teaching me more patience to wait on him than ever before! God is good all the time:)

  6. LOOOVVEEEE the truths in the first 4 verses!!!!
    1) He hears my cries
    2) He draws me up out of the pit
    3) He sets my feet onthe rock: safe and secure
    4) He puts a new song in my mouth
    5) Blessed is the man who puts His trust in the Lord!
Just awesome truths to remember when we find ouselves in a pit of despair. Yes Vicki, God is good all the time!!!

  7. Wait…good things come to those who wait. We may not see God’s plan however if we wait on him it will become clear. God didn’t promise us a rose garden on earth but our reward is in heaven:). That keeps me going during hard times.

  8. I am thankful that today I work at a job that allows me to go with John as necessary and be with him for his doctors appointments. He has 3 today, long day. His chemo radiation starts Monday and I will be there and knowing God is with us all the way to take us through and out of this P.I.T. Is such a comfort!
