TGFABT – Psalm 19

“The heavens declare  the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalm 19:1

I was thinking of God declaring Himself and was reminded of Jesus’ triumph entry into Jerusalem just days before His death.  The people were shouting, “Blessed be the name of the Lord.”  The Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke the disciples.  Jesus replied, “I tell you, If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

If we, as His children do not declare His majesty and greatness, creation will, and does.  Could it be this why creation proclaims Him so loudly so often?  Something to think about.

Our assignment for this week:

Get somewhere in creation.  Sit quiet and listen to creation declare His majesty and greatness then join creation in the symphony.

Our assignment for this month:

Pray verse 14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing  in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

P.S.

I apologize for the being distracted at the end of today’s message.  My whole family was coming down to the dock to hang out.  I obviously was surprised.  In the surprise I feel like I did not bring our lesson to a good closure.  Grace Grace Grace

Truth

There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
Psalm 19:4-5

Every speech and language can understand creation.  I love how this connects and confirms Romans 1:20.  God is so consistent.

Word Study

The Lord does not impose Himself on His children.  He will not make us do something like a Puppeteer controlling  a puppet.  He wants us to submit to Him, to give Him permission to mess with us out of our love for Him.  In verse 13, “Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me,” David invites God to mess with Him, to keep Him from sinning.

Chasak – khaw-sak’
to withhold, restrain, hold back, keep in check.

When we ask God to hold us back from sin, we are giving Him permission to remove anything, even that which we hold dear, so that we might not willfully and pridefully sin.  We should ask God such a thing if don’t intend to submit His plan. Such submission can be painfully but the outcome is worth the pain.  We become more like Him and His holiness.

Thankful

I am so thankful that I do not have to go anywhere this weekend.  I am even more thankful that my sweet husband does not have to have go anywhere this weekend.  YEAH!!

Faith Stretching/Strengthening

1 Settling back into my routine of morning moments with the Lord is my focus right now.  I am strongest and most effective when I have time with Him each morning.  Now that I am in one place, I want to be with Him early each morning.

2. An area of weakness I desire to strengthen requires self-discipline.

  1. This weekend was the perfect time to realize the greatness of God’s creation. What a perfect time to appreciate the beautiful weather and time with family as we celebrated the great country we live in. I enjoyed being outside on my deck many times this weekend. IN GOD WE TRUST AND GOD IS EVER PRESENT! Have a great Monday.

  2. I loved today’s Reading. I always feel closest to God when out in nature. Gods creations bring me such joy!
I will challenge myself to the month long prayer challenge and look forward to the changes it brings to my life.

  3. For my truth I think how can anyone deny that God exists and that he wasn’t the creator of all the earth! When we see children playing outside on the swings laughing and enjoying themselves or the awe of catching fireflies at night, who do they think made all the things that we enjoy! I ponder this question every time I hear someone say it isn’t so. I am glad to know the truth!!!

  4. I feel close to God through nature as well. I love to walk along the beach and listen to the ocean and look for shells. I am amazed at how different each one is and their beauty. I don’t understand how people can see all of the beauty of creation and not believe that there was a creator! I’m going to challenge myself to the prayer for the month as well. Looking forward to being still in nature and hear what the Father is trying to say to me.

  5. Submitting to God is my word for Wednesday. I know I need to work more diligently with God on this! He gave me my assignment!!!

  6. God’s creations are amazing. Everything that comes to me to say today just mirrors the other comments. When I watch our family grow from tiny babies to young adults, I am so grateful for all the blessings he has given. I know he will see me though any hardships that may come my way.

  7. I am thankful that FCC will have awesome weather for their Fun Fest Saturday. God shines his light on us again!

  8. I’m am thankful for my sons MRI showing a healthy brain!
That’s the great news! The not so great news is he has been diagnosed with cluster headaches. This is a very difficult condition for sufferers. My son has 3-5 severe headaches daily that can last anywhere from 30-180 minutes each time. The pain is extremely intense. According to his neurosurgeon it is the worst pain a humane can endure.
Please pray for Corey and his family. Thank you!

    1. Kim,
I will definitley add Corey to my prayers. I cannot imagine how painful this must be. Is there anything they can do to stop the headaches or provide relief? I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you too as a mom. Hard to see our children suffer.

    2. Joining you in praying for Corey and your family. Praying for Corey’s health and perseverance and also praying that God will provide you with words of encouragement.

  9. God continues his work on me as I struggle with illnesses with my son and sister. I hopefully spread his message onto my son and his wife hopeing that they will find peace and strength to endure.

    1. What an amazing story and though I cried my heart is truly touched by the bond of the boys and the caring heart of Lisa. I believe we are here to care for and encourage each other and Lisa is a beautiful example of this.

  10. I’m back! Forgot to tell you ladies I would be gone this week. As I listened to the video this morning on my back porch, I could hear the birds all around. It was the perfect setting to listen to the video and think about God’s creation. I love the truths about God and His Word in verses 7-11. His Word revives our soul, gives us wisdom, joy and light. And for sure His Word is sweeter than honey. In addition to praying about the words of my mouth as wendy suggested, I also love David’s request in verse 13: keep me from willful sins; may they not rule over me. I truly want to add that prayer as well. So thankful you Ladies have chosen to meditate on His Word together. What a blessing it is to come alongside you and share His Word together.
