RTW Teaching-January 28

A Holy “What For”

“For I am full of pent-up words, and the spirit within me urges me on.”
Job 33:18

My Take Aways

Something Old:

I am thankful for the Elihu’s in my life.  Not so happy when the spirit urges me to be one.

He still speaks we just do not recognize His voice.  He speaks through:

  • Dreams and visions
  • Whispers in our ears
  • Terrifying warnings

Something New:

Pent-up means confined, restrained, not vented or expressed.  Sometimes the spirit urges us to purge our pent-up words, other times he expects us to exercise self-control.

Something to Do:

Be careful with my pent-up words.

Discussion

  1. Karen says:

Thank you Wendy for your faithfulness and your transparency. I am thankful for the Elihus who have spoken truth to me in my life. Especially, the Elihus who spoke to me with gentleness and a quiet spirit when I was conflicted about staying in my marriage, those who encouraged me to seek God; and when I did I heard His whispers. My faith walk changed when I heeded God’s instruction and allowed him to refine my heart that was consumed with pride. Have a great day everyone.

  2. Sandie says:

My Something New: Job 34:28They (the wicked) cause the poor to cry out, catching God’s attention. He hears the cries of the needy.
Is it not in our weakness or humble circumstances that we find ourselves turning to God?
Another Something New: Job 33:15 -16 He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. Am I close enough in my relationship to God and honest enough with myself to hear when He speaks to me? What noises or distractions drowned out His voice and words to me?
My Something Old: Job 33:14 For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.
All we have to do is look around at all of God’s creation. He speaks to us through everything we see every day. Sometimes He can be heard through other people, scriptures or even the circumstances of our lives.
My Something to Do: Be still and know that He is God. In my quiet time every day allow God to speak to me through prayer and His word. Listen!
